School Portraits

  • FIRST

    Alexis visits the school and we discuss the best location for a photo studio, as well as how to best serve your families and students. We create a plan for the day/days.

  • NEXT

    Alexis and team capture fine art modern portraits of each student in the school (with option to include siblings and/or staff) using a simple backdrop and studio set-up. We may decide to do class photos on the same day, or later in the year. We work with your schedule.

  • FINALLY

    Each family will receive their own private online gallery of 3-5 poses in both black and white and color within 2 weeks. They will have the option to purchase individual portraits, packages, or framed art. Prices begin at $8.00 for 4x7’s and include digital images, prints, or framed art. All orders are hand-packaged and dropped off at your school to disperse to families.

  • My Approach

    My approach to school portraits is simple yet intentional: I aim to capture each child as they truly are, in their best light. As a former tenured public school teacher in NYC, I’ve come to appreciate the individuality of each child. Now, as both a photographer and a parent of two young spunky kids, I bring this understanding to every session. My goal is to help children feel at ease, letting them be themselves so I can capture their unique personality. Each child receives at least one “yearbook” image in a standard headshot pose, along with some more candid images for families to cherish.

    I don’t force smiles but love to encourage laughter; I avoid stiff poses but guide them gently, using light conversation to find their natural expressions. My setup is designed to keep things comfortable and authentic, using a textured grey background and a soft, natural-looking studio flash that mimics window light. This approach allows each child’s genuine self to shine through, creating portraits that feel honest and true.

    I let them be who they are, and then highlight that.

  • Siblings

    I love to capture the unique relationships of siblings! Having two little ones of my own, I know how special this is. I always offer siblings to sit together as part of my school portrait package.
